Biggest Market Value Drops in La Liga – Barcelona & Ansu Fati in Crisis?

Market values in football can rise and fall like a rollercoaster, and Transfermarkt’s latest update (March 2025) highlights some shocking downgrades in La Liga. Barcelona and Real Sociedad dominate the list, while Real Madrid only has one representative. However, the biggest story remains the massive decline of Ansu Fati, a player once tipped to be Barcelona’s next big superstar.

Ansu Fati: From €80M to €5M – A Dream Fading?

In 2020, Ansu Fati was considered the future of Barcelona, valued at €80 million at just 18 years old. However, a series of devastating injuries, loss of form, and failed loan spells have seen his market value plummet to just €5 million. Fati’s decline is a reminder that potential alone does not guarantee success. The big question now is: Can he resurrect his career?

Gavi’s Market Drop – A Temporary Setback

Barcelona’s midfield sensation Gavi also suffered a significant drop, going from €80M to €70M. However, unlike Fati, Gavi’s devaluation is largely due to his one-year absence from football following an ACL injury. With his return to action, many expect him to bounce back just like his teammate Pedri, who also struggled with injuries but is now a key player for both Barcelona and Spain.

Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid, €70M to €60M) – The only Real Madrid player on the list, Camavinga’s drop is surprising given his importance to the team.

Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia, €40M to €30M) – The Georgian goalkeeper has seen his value decline amid Valencia’s struggles.

Ronald Araújo (Barcelona, €55M to €50M) – A world-class defender, but Barcelona’s poor form this season has affected his valuation.

Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad, €35M to €30M) – Once seen as Spain’s next big forward, his injuries have slowed down his rise.

With Barcelona and Real Sociedad featuring most on this list, it’s clear that La Liga’s financial situation and on-field struggles are affecting players’ values. However, for players like Gavi and Camavinga, a resurgence is very much on the horizon. The real worry remains Ansu Fati —can he find his way back, or is his time at the top truly over?
