Luka Modric to AC Milan: deal expected to be Finalised in the next 24 hours.

AC Milan have stepped up their efforts to sign Real Madrid legend Luka Modric, as revealed in an exclusive report by renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Key terms of the deal include an initial one-year contract until June 2026, with a club option for 2027. The deal is worth €3.5 million net per season – a significant reduction from his €5 million net salary at Real Madrid – plus additional benefits based on performance. The offer, valid through June 2026, reflects Milan’s long-term planning and flexibility.

Modric’s arrival marks AC Milan’s first major signing under new sporting director Igli Tare and head coach Massimiliano Allegri. Both have identified the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner as a catalyst for the club’s midfield overhaul, particularly amid the potential departure of Tijani Reijnders. Set to turn 40 in September, Modrić’s enduring fitness and influence remain undeniable — he featured in 57 matches.

The Croatian captain preferred competitive European football to lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and MLS in order to maintain his top form for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His childhood admiration for Milan also influenced the decision, with sources noting that he “always dreamed of playing for the Rossoneri”.

Modric will complete his duties with Real Madrid at the ongoing Club World Cup before travelling to Milan for a medical. The signing of the contract is expected to take place by Wednesday, June 5. Fans have already drawn parallels to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s game-changing return in 2020, with hopes that Modric’s leadership can restore Milan’s Serie A and European ambitions.
