Manchester United set to make a £60m bid for AC Milan’s Rafael Leão.

Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, with the Red Devils making a £60m opening bid for the Portugal international, making a switch to a transformative attacking signing a priority.

Leão, described by Jamie Carragher as “absolutely devastating,” tallied 12 goals and 13 assists across 50 appearances for Milan last season.

Despite his €175 million release clause, Milan are reportedly open to a sale in the region of €80–€85 million — significantly less than the buyout figure.

The impact of United captain Bruno Fernandes, who has had a close relationship with Leo since his Sporting CP days, could prove decisive in the deal, as the pair have combined for goals at international level.

But Bayern Munich have emerged as a serious contender for the Red Devils, having already opened talks with Leo’s representatives.

Leo’s arrival at United is dependent on player sales, with Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho all

United aim to formalise their bid once the exits are confirmed, but a parallel effort from Bayern could speed up talks.

If completed, the deal would be United’s second major signing after Matheus Cunha, signaling ambitious intentions under the new leadership.
