PSG Owners in Doha Declare: We Want Lamine Yamal at Any Cost

Paris Saint-Germain’s Qatari owners have expressed a strong determination to sign 17-year-old FC Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, viewing him as a key part of their long-term project despite the challenges.

Reports from journalist Romain Molina reveal that Yamal’s agent Jorge Mendes has connections to PSG, potentially paving the way for a bid surpassing the €222 million record set by Neymar’s transfer.

Barcelona has set a €1 billion release clause on Yamal, who recently extended his contract until 2031.

The message from the Gulf state is unequivocal: “We want him, no matter what it costs. We want him and we need him with us someday”.

This firm conviction places the 18-year-old Spanish winger at the center of what could become one of the most expensive transfers in football history.

The Parisian club’s interest is long-term and intense. Reports suggest PSG see Yamal as the global superstar to define their new chapter and are “absolutely determined” to bring him to the Parc des Princes.

This ambition was previously demonstrated when Barcelona reportedly rejected an offer worth around €250 million for the player last year.

While Yamal’s current release clause stands at a prohibitive €1 billion, some reports indicate a transfer could potentially be negotiated for a sum around €300 million, a figure that would shatter the current record held by Neymar .

Barcelona, however, are digging in for a fight. The club views Yamal as the cornerstone of their sporting project for the next decade and has secured his future until 2031.

In response to the persistent interest from PSG and other elite clubs like Manchester City, Barcelona have rewarded Yamal with one of the most lucrative contracts in the club’s history, complete with substantial loyalty bonuses and performance incentives, in a determined effort to shield their prized asset.

This high-stakes standoff sets the stage for a potential transfer saga. For PSG’s Qatari owners, acquiring Lamine Yamal is more than a tactical acquisition; it is a statement of intent, a declaration that they remain in the business of signing the game’s most marketable icons, whatever the price.
