The European Golden Boot is an award presented to the top scorer in league matches from the top division of every European national league.

The award was created in 1968 and was initially given to the highest scorer. However, the rules were changed in 1991 as many players from weaker leagues were winning the award. only top-division league’s goals count for the European Golden Shoe.
