Barcelona celebrated their long-awaited return to the renovated Spotify Camp Nou with a dominant 4-0 victory over Athletic Club in La Liga on Saturday, reclaiming the top spot in the standings at least temporarily.
with goals from Fermin Lopez, Robert Lewandowski, and Ferran Torres’ brace, plus two assists from Lamine Yamal and a clean sheet from Joan Garcia.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 4th minute, capitalising on high pressing from Gerard Martín and Eric Garcia to fire a left-footed strike from the left side of the box past Unai Simón.
Just before the interval, Ferran Torres doubled the lead in the 45+3rd minute, finishing off a well-worked move to give Barcelona a deserved two-goal cushion heading into halftime.
The momentum continued shortly after the restart when Fermín López fired in the third goal in the 48th minute, effectively putting the game out of reach.
Athletic Club’s night got even worse when Oihan Sancet was sent off in the 54th minute, leaving the visitors with 10 men and little hope of mounting a comeback.
Barcelona continued to apply pressure, and Ferran Torres completed his brace with a late strike in the 90th minute, sealing a dominant performance.
